In healthy state, bile is expelled to the duodenum during the process of digestion and is again absorbed. Butt, when excess of bile circulates in the blood, it gives rise to yellow colour (tint) in the eyes, nales, skin, renders urine deep yellow in colour, with passage of white stools. Prominent symptoms of jaundice can be listed as bitter taste in the mouth, slow pulse, extreme debility and exhaustion, either diarrhoea or constipation, pain in liver region. When you see some person having the said symptoms you can immediately make out that he is suffering from jaundice.
Treatment: It is mostly supportive and corrective, and medicines are generally not called for. Take tablets of liv-52 or syrup of Liv-52 (2-4 tablets thrice daily or 1-2 TSP thrice daily), alongwith heavy doses of Vitamin B-complex (Cap Cobadex or Cap Becosules 2-4 Capsules daily)_all after meals. Consume plenty of boiled water, coconut water, radish, papaya, sugar cane juice, curd (of toned milk) or/and whey. Avoid all types of meats, tea, coffee, alcohol, tobacco, drugs and narcotics, cocoa, Juices ex-tracted from fresh lemon and Mousambi (sweat quality only) can also be had.
I once again reiterate that prevention and abstinence from the use of above-mentioned foodstuffs is a prerequisite to cure jaundice, though medicines play only a supportive and corrective role here. If the complaints do not yield to any method, hospitalise the patient and let him have an indoor treatment. Diet restriction is of paramount importance. Jaundice is fully curable provided the above-mentioned points are closely followed.
