Since memory retrieval is activated by the combined action of the same sensory route which forms it and all the brain senses become dull and less sensitive with age including the eye – sight, hence the need to stimulate all the sense organs by the healing breathing mantras given above. Also I also must stress that some of the old persons who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease shut their MIND to out-side world which becomes the greatest impediment in memory retrieval.
Thus, this negative emotional rf older people is the most difficult to correct. For that, their interest in life and the outside world has to be re-generated by very congenial and friendly company. They must regenerate HOPE to LIVE on independently, which the above breathing healing mantras will reinvoke by showing progress in the rejuvenation of all sense organs, i.e. eye sight, taste sense and above all the hunger and lust for good-food – thus proper nutrition will provide the necessary fillup to regain taste for life.
However, a breathing mantra is given below which not only helps to inter-communicate between all senses in the brain, but generates the desire (Kamana) to interact with people and society at large.
Inhale with = SHRAFA – KAMANA KANT
Exhale with = FREELY – COMMUNICATE
(The word SH & L are equivalent)
The mantra COMMUNICATE/KAMANA KANT is indeed wonderful.
The word KAMANA KANT means – I am full with the splendour of DESIRE to live and the word communicate is very suggestive to give us the hypnotic power to really communicate with all sections of the brain With the words – K, M, N, K, & T – all the seed words of brain, where-in, it sets up to & fro resonant sonic vibrations to stimulate all the sense endings simultaneously. This stimulative & CELEBRATIVE DANCE of various sense endings re-unites them to become WHOLE and it brings about the much needed HARMONY in Body, Mind and Soul.
Balanced Nutrition for Brain/Memory
However, a balanced nutritious diet of carbohydrates/proteins, fats/minerals/vitamins is a must for healthy development of body/brain. I must stress that pituitary gland and all other glands have protein structure plus the receptivity of neuron sites is greatly enhanced by the migration of a protein called protein kinase. The protein moves from the cytoplasm of a cell to the membrane altering a neuron property so that the particular input signal triggers impulses more readily.
They say, one third of the dry weight of our brain is composed of Lecithin which is present in the eggs and Soybeans etc. Besides proteins, sodium, potassium and calcium salts play a great part in life processes in cells. Arrival of a nerve impulse brings about a change in the permeability across a cell membrane causing sodium ions to enter the cell and the potassium ions to leave the cell, thus creating a potential difference to allow an electrical activity to propagate.
Also calcium ions serve as ionic messenger. The calcium ion is also involved in such diverse processes as the regulation of muscle contraction, the secretions of hormones to develop immunity against inflammation of the brain as well as in the production of neurotransmitters in the brain which get depleted in older people. These calcium ions are polarised to act as a switch turning on and off the cellular processes. But in fact, calcium ions can carry out this role/information role only at very low concentrations, because higher concentration of calcium is detrimental to normal cell function.
That is why I usually recommend using Five Phos 3X or 6X (in older people) as tonic for brain/memory function. In five phos 3x and 6x, calcium, sodium, potassium, Ferrum (Iron) and Magnesium phosphates are present in milligram and microgram quantities respectively and also potenciazed, to be directly absorbed on the tongue to strengthen the brain/ body system to carry out vital cellular reactions.
And for protien and Lecithin requirement, I recommend – one or two eggs a day for students, and younger group and 3 eggs a week for older people alongwith one clove of garlic to look after the naughty cholesterol accompanying the yellow of an egg. The garlic also supplies sulphur and other minerals for proper functioning of the glands/ hormones.
But we must not forget to take an ample quantity of fresh seasonal fruits alongwith vegetables salads to supply antioxidants like vitamin C, A & E alongwith other vitamins, minerals, fructose in their natural form. Ten almonds with 10 gms of Raisins is a good tonic food for the brain.
Also, there is a well known Indian herb called BRAH MI (Centella Asiatica) which has been used since ages to boost memory power. This herb is found to increase protein synthesis in the brain cells, resulting in the increase in the efficiency of brain’s function. It also soothes the brain to remove stress by also inducing good sleep.
The Herb “SHANKHA PUSHPI (CONVOLVULUS Pluricaulis) is also a brain tonic par excellence.
