We cannot live without water for more than 2 days as it is most essential for life processes in our body. Therefore, we must consume about 1.5 litres of water daily, taking a glass of water measuring about 250 cc, every 2 to 3 hours during our waking period, because water essentially acts as the medium for life processes in our body cells.
Water is a major constitutent of our blood and gets absorbed alongwith the digested food in the lower intestines. It also helps in the elimination of body wastes by cleansing the bowels regularly with the help of proper intake of water. Water also helps to maintain the body temperature stable at 98.6°F in so many ways, and in summer, also by the process of sweating and evaporation which cools the body in hot summer environment.
About 70% of our body composition consists of water and incidently, it may not be out of place to mention that about 70% of our earth’s crust is also constituted of sea water, but alas! the sea water is not directly fil for drinking because of its abnormal salt content. That is why, the poet Coleridge writes about his sea journey, thus :-
“Alone Alone, All All alone, Alone on this wide wide sea. Water, Water Every where, But not a drop to drink”.
But God is great. The sea water is purified by evaporation and then it is transported over the land in the form of rain clouds to provide water fit for drinking through rains, which fill the rivers, lakes, ground water supply, snow which melts to fill the rivers for our drinking and irrigation of plants and vegetables and fruits and most of the vegetables and fresh seasonal fruits contains 70% to 90% water. Thus, fresh fruits and vegetables in the form of salads provide us water and nutrients directly in the most natural composition to our body, and these are the products to be consumed for living naturally a long healthy life.
And blood, through which all the cells in the body get their nutrition also consists mostly of water, sugar, fat, albuminous substances and salts of sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium etc. and it also contains iron in its haemoglobin. And water is the medium for all cellular life reactions. Water is contained both inside the cell and also surrounds the cell, separated by cell membrance. The electrolytes of sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium diffuse across the cell membrane because of the concentration gradient of the above electrolytes to provide electrical currents inside the human cell, such as transmission of information in the nerves, cell growth, cell division etc.
Also, the active transport of sugars and aminoacids into the human cell is linked to the electrochemical gradient of Na+ – K+ pump in the water electrolyte of each cell structure, while sodium sulphate ions help to regulate the excretion of superfluous water, while sodium chloride can attract water for furthering the division of cells for life processes etc., thus all the processes of life and cellular activity are carried out in the medium of water.
And, whenever any part of our body aches, it is crying for oxygen or glucose or water and the nutrients unless there is a direct cut or an obstruction of blood flow in the body. And thus many of our chronic ailments are cured by water therapy, and like all good things, too much intake of water is also not good, because it can drain away the essential nutrients.
In order to maintain proper health, let us start our day with a glass of water, preferably mixed with the juice of one lemon and one spoonful of honey and make the word – WATER as our breathing mantra for one minute only, every two hours after taking a glass of water.
Inhale with = WAT
Exhale with = TER
This mantra will help us to stimulate our lower intestines to absorb water properly for all life processes as mentioned above. The word/mantra WATER also stimulates the taste glands with the word T so to digest the food properly and it also helps the abdominal glands, by the resonant sonic vibration of its seed word R’ to help digest and assimilate food properly in the abdomen by proper secretions to give FIRE to our body and we know that nutritive food and its digestion is the key to our health maintenance and to keep vigorous and kicking. And this book devoted to Self Healing would not have been complete without highlighting the importance of water in our body. And remember, only a dry leaf falls from the tree. Thus, consume enough water to keep green and waving with the sweet morning breeze.
And notice the miraculous action of water to make the water soaked grains of wheat, Bengal gram, Moong etc. sprout to become ALIVE and richer with nutritious vitamins and enzymes.
