Natural Cure: Common Yoga Poses – Bhujangasana

In this asana one has to acquire the pose of a Cobra. Lie down with your face downwards and legs closely held together. Let your palms touch the ground below the shoulders, but fully apart. Pressing the ground with your palms, raise the elbows a little.

Start inhaling and raise your front part, your head and chest, upto the navel. Bend your chest and abdomen to the maximum, with your head thrown backwards and eyes looking up to the sky.

This is the Cobra pose. Keep the pose for a minute or so and come back exhaling to your original position.

This asana is of great benefit to the kidneys. It gives strength and elasticity to the neck, the shoulders and the spine. It helps restoring circulation of blood to the spine. It strengthens the heart also.

You are to assume the form or the pose of a bow (dhanu). Lie down on the ground keeping the face downwards. Bend your legs and hold your ankles with the hands.

Now raise the hind part of the body and then the front part as far as possible. Bend your neck backwards looking at the sky. Tighten up the body bent in the form of a bow, inhaling the breath.

Natural Cure: Yoga in Water – Jal-Neti

‘Neti’ is of two types. One is ‘Sutra Neti’, in which a piece of wet thread is inserted through one side, or nostril of the nose and taken out of the mouth, but it may not be easy for all to do.

Hence ‘Jal-Neti’ is the alternative. In Jal-Neti, slightly warm and lightly saltish water is taken in a cup, or a bowl. Raise the nostril which is working and bring the bowl near that.

Natural Cure: Common Yoga Poses – Matsyasana

Matsya is a Sanskrit word for the fish. The asana resembles a fish. It is practised after the Sarvangasana, as it removes the slight stiffness caused in the practice of Sarvangasana.

Lie down on your back. Do Padmasana. Keeping the legs crossed, lie down and then raise your head, making an arck with the chest. Placing the head on the ground, look backwards, with the chest raised.
