Reiki Healing: Reiki – A Holistic Medicine
The adjective “holistic” is derived from the ancient Greek word “holos” which means “whole”. Interest in the holistic approach to medicine was revived in the early 1970s. The idea of holism and the word itself were first introduced by the South African statesman and biologist Jan Christian Smuts in his book Holism and Evolution as early as in 1926. To Smuts, holism was a way of viewing and describing living things including people, as entities greater than and different from the sum of their parts.

Reiki Healing: What is Reiki?
What is Reiki?
The word Reiki means Universal Life Force Energy. It is defined as that power which acts and lives in all created matter. The word Reiki consists of two parts. The syllable REI describes the universal, boundless aspect of the energy while KI stands for the vital life force energy which flows through all living beings. It is one of the highest forms of energy in existence.
Reiki Healing: Philosophy of Reiki
Reiki is not associated with any material which is visible, nor does it have a shape, nor name.
There exists one Supreme Being, the Absolute Infinite, a Dynamic Force that governs the world and universe. It is an unseen spiritual power that vibrates and all other powers fade into insignificance before it. Therefore, it is Absolute!

Reiki Healing: Reiki Healers
(Adapted from Reader’s Digest Guide to Alternative Medicines)
The Reiki healers use prayer, meditation, or visualization to link themselves to divine or mystical healing forces which are then channelised to patients, activating their power to heal themselves. The patients may not even know that they are being healed, although most healers will send healing only when requested by a patient. Healers usually discover this ability by accident, and see it as a gift, which they must use in the service of others.

Reiki Healing: Chakras in Our Body
