Magnet Therapy: History of Magnets

Magnets have been used in healing for thousands of years. Egyptian nobility were reported to have worn magnetic jewellery to preserve youth and beauty. African tribes used magnetic ores in food preparation. According to Minda Hsu and Chikuo Fong, two modern researchers of biomagnetism, magnetic therapy has been used in China for more than two thousand years. The oldest known medical book, the Chinese Yellow Emperor’s Book of Internal Medicine, thought to have been written about 2000 BC, mentions the use of magnets on acupuncture points.

Magnet Therapy: Magnet and Its Applications

As we have just mentioned, magnets have two poles -north and south. Now let us see if both the poles, when applied to the body, exercise the same effect. Dr Hahnemann, the founder of Homeopathy, understood this difference and prepared two separate medicines from the two poles for completely different symptoms. Concurrently, scientists also found out that the magnetisation of water with the North Pole neutralised bacteria in it, while the South Pole did just the opposite – it hastened the development of bacteria.

Magnet Therapy: Types of Magnets

There are many types of magnets. Let’s look at them in some detail.
Natural magnets or loadstones are formed when molten lava containing iron or iron oxides cools and is magnetised by the earth’s magnetic force. When the lava is molten, it does not exhibit magnetic properties. But when it cools, the tiny molten particles of iron twist around to align with the earth’s magnetic poles and are trapped in this position when the iron solidifies.

Magnet Therapy: The Force of Magnetism

Magnetism is universal. It is everywhere. We live and breathe it. It is one of the basic principles of existence. The earth is a huge magnet and its magnetic field can be detected over 100,000 kms away. It is not only the earth but even the human body and the tiniest atoms in nature that are magnets. The sun, moon and other celestial bodies are also giant magnets. So the force of magnetism is all around and within us.

Magnet Therapy: Magnet Treatment for Injuries, Insect Bites, Jaundice, Adrenal Insufficiency, Arthritis and Asthma

Injuries of all kinds are also helped by the application of magnets. If the injury is without any bleeding, apply the South Pole to eliminate pain and swelling. If there is any blood oozing from the injury, apply the north polarity on the point from where the blood is oozing. The north polarity can be applied on stitches too to hasten the healing of the cut. If the injury is long, both the poles can be applied together; the North Pole to the upper or right side and the South Pole to the lower or left side of the injury. The injury can be cleaned with magnetised water. Drinking magnetised water will also help.

Magnet Therapy: Magnet Treatment for Ear Pain, Eczema, Herpes, Ringworm, Psoriasis, Leucoderma and Cancer

For ear pains, low potency crescent-type ceramic magnets are ideal. If there is pain in one ear only, the north polarity can be applied on the front of the ear and the south polarity on the back of the ear. If there is pain in both ears, the same treatment may be given to each ear one after the other. Medium-powered magnets can also be used if there are no results with ceramic magnets.
