Natural Cure: Yoga in Water – Dhouti Kriya

‘Dhouti Kriya’, too, is of two kinds. One is done with a wet piece of cloth inserted into the stomach through the mouth and when well-immersed, taken out of the stomach through the mouth. This is done to cleanse the internal digestive system.

There is another ‘Jal-Dhouti Kriya’, which is more convenient way of ‘Dhouti Kriya’. Take one to one-and-a-half litre of fresh water and drink the whole of it. It would be done early morning on empty stomach.

Now, after drinking the whole water, try to have a feeling of vomiting. This is done by inserting three of your fingers inside the mouth and pressing the tongue at its route, near the throat, with the fingers.

Vomiting will start and the whole water thrown out like a jet. It is not to be done daily, once in a week or fortnight, to clean the stomach.

This kriya is also called the ‘Kunjal Kriya’, or the ‘Gaj-Kriya’, because in vomiting, the water comes out of the mouth with great force, resembling very much like an elephant (Kunjal or Gaja), who drinks water with his trunk and throws it out through the trunk like a jet.
