Natural Cure: Common Yoga Poses – Padmasana

Place your left foot on the joint of your right thigh. Place the right foot on the joint of your left thigh, such that both the heals touch each other below the navel. Straighten the back-bone and the neck.

The hands may be placed on the knees. The spinal cord, neck, head and waist should be kept straight.

This asana is helpful in practising Dhyana (meditation). It strengthens the nerves of the spinal cord, making them elastic. It increases the concentration of mind by controlling the sense organs. It is also practised in doing pranayama.
