This disease of the gland is due to its inflammation and enlargement, which interfere with the action of the bladder and the urethra, causing imperfect and frequent urination.
The main symptom is a constant desire to pass urine and the difficulty in passing it. The cause of this trouble is the excessive use of sex organs in earlier life and masturbation, cycle-riding and horse-back riding can also be the cause. Habitual constipation is another cause.
Treatment
An exclusive fresh fruit diet for ten days should be taken at the outset, followed by normal diet of natural unrefined, starch and cereals being in limited quantities, while salads, vegetables and fruit forming the main menu of the diet.
Nightly warm-water enema is to be used during the first ten days and later, hot-and-cold hip-bath is also very effective, that is, first having hot bath and then the cold one. Spinal manipulation is also helpful.
For this finger massage is done by inserting finger in the rectum. Strong tea or coffee is to be avoided. Highly flavoured dishes, sweet condiments and sauces should not be used. Beverages like alcohol should be avoided.
