Due to the inflammation of a portion of the ear directly behind the ear-drum, the discharge of matter takes place into the ear. With the trouble continuing, the inner ear becomes seriously affected and hearing is impaired more and more.
The drum-membrane is always perforated in this middle-ear disease. As already explained, the toxins of the stomach find their way of elimination through the elementary canal and then from the ear, nose and throat. In this way the ear, too, gets affected.
Treatment
The patient should begin with a short fast for 4 or 5 days and follow this with 14 days on restricted diet, mainly fruits and vegetables. Only after cure, normal diet should be restored and kept natural as far as possible.
During the treatment, warm-water nightly enema should be taken daily and the bowels kept clean. Dry massage, hip-bath and sun-bath be taken daily and regularly. As for local treatment, the ear should be wiped out daily with a clean cotton wool steeped in warm water.
Hot and cold fomentations be given alternatively on the back of the ear. Gentle massage and stroking on the rear of the ear may also be given.
