Piles is not a disease, but a serious condition or symptom of acute constipation and also a disorder of the digestive system. As the vein in the region of the anus becomes varicose (loose or dilated), a condition like that of pile or haemorrhoids is born.
It may be dry, in which case the passing of stools is very painful. The other is internal piles, in which the varicose veins bleed at the time of evacuation of the bowels. That particular condition is known as haemorrhoids.
This disease is caused as a result of continued condition of constipation, thus constant straining of stool, and repeated use of purgatives to ease clearing of the bowels, which further develops into a habit and purgatives become indispensable.
Treatment
In medical science, operation is the general treatment, but it does not remove the cause of the trouble, which sometimes reappears. Thus Nature-cure is the sure and permanent solution.
For this, the treatment as suggested in detail, in the case of constipation should be followed. However, as a local treatment juice of lemon be injected into the rectum, or enema with lemon water juice be taken.
In case of irritation, compression is advised. After complete cure of piles, one should adopt a diet as is free of heavily cooked foods, use of spices, chillies and condiments.
Fissure of the Anus and Fistula
These conditions are also of the nature of piles, so far as these are connected with one’s rectum. Fissure of the anus is a fissure or crack in the mucous lining covering the part of muscle situated at the end of the bowel content.
Fistula is an abscess upon the rectum. Both these ailments are extremely troublesome and cause great affliction to the patients. The cause of these ailments is also the same, that is, chronic constipation.
Hence, for treatment of both of these, the line of treatment suggested in the case of constipation, should be followed. Also the affected parts should also be bathed several times daily with hot and cold fomentations, which should end with cold applications.
A piece of cloth dipped in water is wrung out and applied alternatively with hot and cold applications.
