Natural Cure: Treatment for Diabetes

Diabetes is of two kinds—diabetes insipidus and diabetes mellitus. In the former, the patient passes great quantities of urine, which is almost colourless. The latter one is the common form of diabetes. In this kind of diabetes, sugar is present in the urine.

After the starches in our food are digested in the small intestines, the resultant glucose (sugar) is carried by the blood to the liver. Only a small amount is retained in the blood, but in diabetes mellitus, the amount of sugar retained in the blood is more than the required amount.

Though, in the digestion of starch and sugar the pancreas also play an important part, yet the disease is mainly due to faulty nutritional balance, in which liver and other vital organs are also involved as much as the pancreas.

Wrong diets, over indulgence, hard work, sedentary life and constant worry are some of the factors responsible for the malfunctioning of the nutritional organs.

Diabetes, in its worst form, is the cause of gangrene, which the medical science has failed to treat with medicine and the only treatment its doctors employ is amputation.

The surgeon amputates the part of foot affected by gangrene, giving the impression that it has been cured. But it reappears and the next affected part of the foot is then amputated and so on.

The patient loses his whole leg and then life. Against this situation, the Nature-cure treatment is able to deal with the disease and cure it completely.

Treatment

In the treatment of Diabetes, such foods as white bread, white sugar, meat, cooked vegetables, pastry and puddings, etc. should be totally avoided, as these contain excess of proteins, starches and fats, quite harmful for such a patient.

The patient should be put on a short fast for 3 or 4 days, only on water and orange juice, followed by a diet of only fruit (except banana) for 7 to 10 days, accompanied by a small quantity of milk, to be continued until perfect cure.

The patient, then, may be placed on normal diet, which should not contain refined wheat bread, potatoes and dry fruits.

Medical science prescribes insulin for diabetic patients, which they are made to continue for the whole of their life, as it gives relief sporadically and does not remove the real cause of the disease.

During the fast treatments, enema, hip-bath and dry massage should be taken every day. All worries should be cast away. Long walks, exercise, yoga asanas and pranayama should be had daily.

If the patient has been taking insulin for long time, in that case he should not take to fasting all at-once. He should have his daily food minus sugar, potatoes and dry fruits and side-by-side go on reducing the use of insulin. After a month or so, he may take to fasting, as described above.

Also, Soyabean, for its low carbohydrate content, is an ideal diet for diabetic patients. Such preparations of Soyabean, as Soya-milk or Soya-flour, etc. are very useful for such patients.
