Diet Cure: Treatment Chart for Piles

A – DIET

I. An all-fruit diet for 5 days, with three meals a day of fresh juicy fruits at five-hourly intervals.

II. Thereafter, gradually adopt a well-balanced diet on the following lines:

1. Upon arising: 25 black raisins soaked overnight in water along with water in which they are soaked and water kept overnight in copper vessel.
2. Breakfast: Fresh fruits and a glass of milk, sweetened with honey.
3. Lunch: A bowl of freshly-prepared steamed vegetables two or three whole wheat chappatis and a glass of buttermilk.
4. Mid-afternoon: A glass of carrot juice or coconut water.
5. Dinner: A large bowl of fresh green vegetable salad with lemon juice dressing, mung bean sprouts, and cottage cheese or a glass of buttermilk.
6. Bedtime Snack: A glass of milk or one apple.

B – RULES FOR EATING

1. Do not take water with meal, but half an hour before and one hour after meals.
2. Never hurry through a meal. Eat very slowly and chew your food as throughly as possible.
3. Never eat to full stomach.

AVOID: Tea, coffee, sugar, white flour, and all products made from them, all refined cereals, fried foods, flesh foods, condiments and pickles.

C – OTHER MEASURES

1. Drink at least six to eight glasses of water daily.
2. Cold hip bath for 10 minutes daily and wet heating compress for one hour daily on empty stomach.
3. Brisk walk for 45 minutes morning and evening daily.
4. Yogasanas like Uttanapadasana, pavanamuktasana, vajrasana and shavasana.
