Diet Cure: Treatment Chart for Cough

I. Fast on fruit juice for five days in case of severe cough. Take a glass of fresh fruit juice, diluted with water on 50:50 basis, every two hours. Use warm-water enema daily during this period.

II. An all-fruit diet for five days in case of mild cough, taking three meals a day of fresh juicy fruits, at five-hourly intervals.

III. Thereafter, adopt a balanced diet, on the following lines:

1. Upon arising: 25 black raisins soaked overnight in water along with the water in which they are soaked and water kept overnight in a copper vessel.
2. Breakfast: Fresh fruit, a glass of milk, sweetened with honey and some seeds or nuts.
3. Lunch: Freshly-prepared steamed or lightly-cooked vegetables, whole wheat chappatis and a glass of buttermilk.
4. Mid-afternoon: A glass of fresh fruit or vegetable juice.
5. Dinner: Raw green vegetable salad and sprouts, with lime juice dressing, followed by a hot course, if desired.
6. Home Remedies: Grapes, almonds, onion juice, turmeric, a sauce made from raisin and aniseed.

AVOID: Meats, sugar, tea, coffee, soft drinks, ice cream, condiments, pickles refined and processed foods, white flour and products made from white flour and sugar.

B – OTHER MEASURES

1. Hot fomentations to the chest and throat.
2. Application of frequent chest packs.
3. Hot tub bath with cold compress on the head in case of checked cough with abundance of secretion.
