It signifies presence of albumine in the urine. Kidneys are such a perfect fitter that nothing, except waste and harmful products, can escape through urine. Albumin is a vital substance ofthe body. It is protein that is soluble in water and coagulated by heat (As an example ‘Serum Albumin’). It is found in blood plasma as its significance lies in maintenance of and the inability ofthe liver to synthesize albumin is a leading and prominent feature of cirrhosis – a chronic liver disease.
Albuminuria is generally associated with some heart or kidney disease. It is not that this symptom is always associated with some (other) disease, as it might occur after standing for a longer period (orthostatic Albuminuria) or after some strenuous exercise.
In addition to the above-mentioned factors, following conditions may also cause this malady.
(i) Acute or chronic Nephritis
(ii) Hyperemia (Presence of excess of blood in the vessels that supply blood to a part of the body).
(iii) Blood changes found in anaemia, syphilis, scurvy, puerpera etc.
(iv) In diabetes mellitus
(v) Some Nervous disorders
(vi) Presence of blood or pus associated with Pyelitis, uretheritis, cystitis, or blood coming from the affected organs (as mentioned earlier)
If, however, this condition lasts for a long period and also where there is hypertension, presence of tube caste with albumin, its diagnosis is grave.
As for treatment, first deduce the underlying cause, and treat the same after which albuminuria will also disappear. It is no use adopting a casual approach. In chronic cases Iron (dosage as advised by the physician) and, in some conditions calcium lactate intake may solve the problem.
One table 6 hourly may benefit. Take plenty of liquid, coconut water or else 112 tablet of Lasix to cause free flow of urine (when there is cirrhosis of liver). Eliminate all spicy, pungent, fatty, fried objects from diet.
