Pyelitis indicates inflammation of the pelvis (which is the part of the kidney from which urine drains into the ureter). The condition is often caused by some bacterial infection which may surface in any shape or form causing obstruction to the process of free flow of urine.
There is pain in the loins, high temperature, shivering, restivity etc. If the infection is too grave, it may even obstruct, wholly or partially, urinary flow.
Treatment
(i) Any antibiotic (like Septran D.S – one tablet 12 hourly) can arrest further infection, apart from curing the malady. It should be continued for 5 days.,
(ii) Analgin or Paracetamol (500 mg) tablet 3-4 times daily with water, to relieve pain, or any antispasmodic drug (like spasmo Proxyvon) may be taken thrice daily to relieve pain/spasm, Dose should not be exceeded, unless medically advised
(iii) Severe and unbearable pain may be allayed by taking injection of Voveron (3ml) on the hips.
(iv) Plenty of fluid (oral) intake to relieve congestion and blockade. 1-2 TSP of Alkasol liquid can also be taken 3-4 times daily to dispel irritation, burning and hesitancy, t o render urine more alkaline.
(v) Use hot compresses over Pubic/Pelvic area over and above the said line of treatment, but urine examination must be had before, during and after the medication.
