Piles is found in two forms – when there is no bleeding but pain is severe and unbearable and whole rectum smarts, aches due to painful passage of hard, dry and knotty stools. Another form is of bleeding piles when there is much oozing of blood from the rectum and there are grape-like boils in and around the anus. The eruptions look like bunch of small grapes.
Causes:
Chronic constipation or diarrhea elimination of fats, milk and milk products from diet and too much consumption of dry food items.
Irregular eating and working hours or else sedentary life style-bereft of any physical activity.
Excessive use of alcohol, spiced food, tea, coffee, cocoa, tobacco, drugs etc.
Habitual use of purgatives.
Symptoms : I am mentioning combined symptoms of both types of piles.
1. Pain before, during or after stools-and sometimes pain persists in all the three conditions.
2. Enlarged and tangled, hard and swollen veins.
3. Great tenesmus and constriction
4. Bleeding at the end of defecation.
5. Inability to sit, move or even lie down Corrective measures
1. Regulate food timings, rest and proper physical activity.
2. Avoid using cushioned seats, synthetic canes, but use airy chairs where air can easily let in.
3. Take plenty of milk, green and leafy vegetables, pulpy fruits, coconut water, radish, cane sugar juice etc.
4. ‘fake 1 -2 TSP of Isapghul husk with lukewarm milk Some pure desi ghee nay also added but do not use any strong purgative.
Treatment : Liquid Cremafm, 1 TBSP should be taken at night before retiring to bed, otherwise mix 1-2 TSP of Isapghul husk to milk which should be taken at bed-time. Locally apply ointment anovate or proctodsedyl in the rectum (the latter being a bit costlier) with the applicator at night, before and after defecation (each time) so as to facilitate smooth passage of stools or use rectal capsules of proctosedyl-M. Main emphasis should be to ensure smooth passage of stools. In some persons hypersensitivity to the ingredients may cause some problems in which condition stop using the local ointment etc., and consult your doctor.
