Juice Therapy: Recommended Juices for Treating Eye-Complaints, Fever, Fatigue, Flatulence, Gastric Ulcer, Goitre, Gout, General Debility and Hair Loss

Eye-Complaints: Deficiency of iron and Vitamin ‘A’, exposure to strong and blindening light, undue strain, mental stress (sudden), injury, glare, foreign-body entry, wrong use of certain medicines, close application of eye-sight at a stretch, poor diet are a few amongst many of probable cause, leading to various eye-problems. First of all, if the basic cause has been discerned, try to eliminate the same. Next, regular use of beet, carrot, orange and spinach juice will suffice to keep eyes and vision in a normal and healthy state.

Fever (Pyrexia): Feverish states may be caused by cold, heat, wrong food intake, some kind of infection, exposure, food poisoning, loose motions etc. The temparature may rise even upto 106°C. There may be excruciating pain, restlessness, headache, thirst and resultant dryness of mucus membranes, particularly mouth; there may also be nausea or vomiting or constipation.

Low grade pyrexia may be due to loose motions. Take mixed juices of basil and ginger. Honey and liquorice juice will subside respiratory problems. Carrot, beet, orange, apple and grape juice will help to bring down fever, remove constipation, undue thirst, purge out toxic matters from the body and also remove headache, body-ache and restore general well-being of the patient. If fever is due to ill effects of heat, keep the patient on liquids and cold compressions but, if due to cold and its adverse effects, give fruit juice as detailed above, but keep the patient protected from further exposure to cold, and keep the body well wrapped.

Fatigue: Fatigue may be due to mental, emotional or physical reasons. Give juice of grape, apple, carrot, beet, tomato, orange to the affected person. Even the juice of sugar-cane is beneficial in such conditions (not for diabeties).

Flatulence: It means accumulation of wind (gas) in the abdomen, with some pain and heavy feeling. Take juice of lime, lemon, orange, garlic to have your wind expelled. Taking 3-4 cloves in the morning on empty stomach or juice thereof or else 2-3 doses after meals. Flatulence may be caused by constipation, drinking, fat-enriched food; hence try to avoid such items. Juice of spinach will relieve constipation by clearing the bowels.

Gastric Ulcer: It is ulceration of stomach, arising from dietary indiscretions. Continuous adherance to smoking, drinking, spicy and fatty foods, meat-enriched diet are considered a few of many symptoms which cause gastric ulcer. Dr. G Cheney has researched on gastric ulcer and came to the conclusion that use of Vitamin ‘U’ can cure the disease, and this vitamin is found in abundance in cabbage.

As a result of his findings, he recommended intake of cabbage juice daily. When food is cooked, this vital vitamin is destroyed by heat of fire. Also take fresh green papaya and plantain; boil (on low heat) them and strain soup which should be taken, in addition to use of cabbage juice. If a glassful of water-mixed lime juice is taken in the morning,it will also hasten curative process. Abstention from the prohibited-food items is, however, a precondition to successful therapy.

Goitre: Due to lack of iodine, thyroid gland enlarges and frontal portion of neck gets formidably raised up. There may or may not be any pain. Give juice of orange, lemon, garlic and lime. Pure and unblended juice of garlic and lemon may, in addition, be applied locally on the affected part. Take iodised salt in food.

Gout: From excess of uric acid in the blood and deposit thereof in the joints (especially smaller joints), inflammation, stiffness and deformity in affected limbs, one can easily infer that a person has gouty symptoms, Purine metabolism manifests itself in the form of gout. Most varieties of meat possess purine. Gout is a hereditary problem and, as such persons whose parents or/and grand parents suffered from gout problem, must be extra cautious because, in them, the risk factor is far greater.

Take fried cloves daily and also apply raw clove juice on affected parts. Take juice of orange, lime, garlic, lemon, beet and carrot daily, on long tenn basis, to gain instant and distant relief. Above all, eliminate all contributory causatives from diet, such as meals of all kinds, proteins, fats, dry fruits, cereals etc. (cereals which have protein, strach and sugar content on higher side). Massage with oil, prepared after boiling cloves of garlic in it, may also be of use in gouty inflammation.

General Debility: This is a general run-down condition of the body which may result from malnutrition, excessive bleeding, some chronic and wasting disease, mental stress, in wholesome and poor dietary standard, malaise, abhorance to perform even normal routine chores, some sort of mental brooding, any psychic problem etc.

First of all, try to work out the modalities and then eliminate the real cause. Apple, grape, beet, lime, carrot, orange juice can be of much help to enable one to regain lost health. Try to mend the oft-repeated bad habits, if you want to gel rid of the disease. If possible, change your monotonous routine and have a change-over to better place and climate.

Hair loss (Alopecia): It is not a form of total loss of hair, but loss of hair, on head in patches. It is an agonising and disturbing feature for many persons. It may result from some acute illness, radiation, ageing process, use of certain drugs, dandruff, loss of weight, overuse of vitamins and restorative (so-called) hair tonics, oils and hair creams, poor dietary standards which are bereft of all essential ingredients and nutrients, hypothyroidism (an endocrine gland disorder), due to repeated pregnancies, stress and strain, heredity.

Age is no bar for loss of hair. Some people lose hair in even bunches due constant use of hair-dyes, strong chemicals or other like irritants, keeping the hair often dry. It should be borne in mind that to seek hair growth by means of food intake, is far more impotant than using any of the artificial means, like applying anything on scalp and hair. Food must be devoid of fat, sugar and refined food stuffs. To encourage and secure the growth of hair, one may have to modify one’s dietary menu.

Sugar is said to cause hair loss, even fruit sugar (fructose). Beans, lentils, split-peas, brown-rice, oatmeal, are, indeed rich sources of insotel. Use also plenty of cabbage, sun-flower spinach and eggs quite often. Take juices of kale, broccoli, parsely and green chillies, asparagus and carrot juice. Apply juice of ginger to scalp to stimulate hair growth. Keep your hair well washed, clean and neat.
