Homeopathy Medicines: Characteristics of China, Cina, Cocculus Indicus

CHINA

Causation : long continued drain on the system (thro, haemorrhages, nursing a child, excessive lactation, diarrhoea, suppuration profuse haemorrhages after climacteric.

Concomitants ; Ringing in ears, fainting, loss of sight, general coldness, sometimes convulsions Great debility, trembling, aversion to exercise. Sensitive to touch, to drafts of air, entire nervous system extremely sensitive. Pains are worse slightest touch, but better by hard pressure.

 

Mental Generals : Apathetic, indifferent, taciturn (Ph. ac); has no desire to live. Headache after haemorrhage, as if head would burst. FEVER : The paroxysms come on an hour or two earlier, every or every other day. The three stages are sharply marked: Chill, fever and sweat. The sweat is generally profuse and exhausting. The malarial fever of China NEVER RETURNS AT NIGHT – an exception to the general rule of China.

Canine hunger, especially at night. Abdomen feels full and tight, as if stuffed – Eructations give NO RELIEF. After eating FRUIT, Sometimes undigested stools, sometimes involuntary, mostly at night. FEVER returns every seventh or fourteenth day (Ars.) Intermittent fever without thirst, or thirst only between the cold and hot stages.

CINA

Irritability in children with worm complaints. Very touchy, mentally and physically. Ugly, cross, whining and dissatisfied. Striking. Aversion to being touched or looked at or caressed. Capricious, wants to be carried, but not amel. by it; wants to be ROCKED. Tosses about in bed at night. GRINDS TEETH during sleep.

Much fever with CLEAN TONGUE. Thirst DURING CHILL Child bores with his fingers into the nose. Canine hunger; hungry soon after a full meal. Canine hunger during or before the intermittent fever.

The urine turns milky after standing. Pale sickly look about the eyes or WHITE AND BLUE ABOUT THE MOUTH. WHOOPING COUGH with stiffness of the child before it, with great PALENESS of the face. Itching of the anus; nibs the nose on the pillow. Stools mixed with umbrici. Craving for sweets.

The child wakes in a fright, screams, trembles and cannot be quieted; proof against all caresses; Wants to be rocked.

COCCULUS INDICUS

Bad effects from loss of sleep, mental excitement and night-watching; even if they lose but one hour’s sleep. Convulsions after loss of sleep. Sick headache from carriage, boat or train riding. Nausea and vomiting from riding in carriage, boat or rail road, or even looking at a boat in motion.

Causation : A.F. Loss of sleep; carriage riding; Silent grief; emotional excitement. Fright, anxiety, disappointment.

Worse : Cold, open air, loss of sleep; during menses (violent headache, weakness). Pregnancy (leucorrhoea). Lying on left side IMPOSSIBLE.

Nausea and vertigo with nearly all complaints. Slow reaction; response. Slow to answer. AVERSION to food from SMELL or sight of it, though hungry. Ataxic gait; staggering, clumsy. MENSTRUAL flow gushes out in a stream. Menses too early; depleting. Too weak to stand or talk during menses. Leucorrhoea in place of menses, like washings of meat.

One-sided paralysis with numbness of limbs. Umbilical hernia with obstinate constipation. Whirling VERTIGO on rising up in bed.

MIND : Answers slowly and reflects long before answering. Anxiety for others, about trifles. Mildness. Dwells on disagreeable occurrences. Recognises but cannot move.
