Belladonna – Otitis media. Severe burning pains in the ears which come on suddenly and shoot from one ear into the other. Worse from drafts on head, pressure, jar, motion.
Chamomilla – Earache sticking. Better warmth. Oversensitive to pain, to fresh air and wind. Child is excessively fretful, must be carried up and down the room all the time; is quiet only then. Worse in the evening, before midnight.
Hepar sulph. – Darting pain in the ears. Foetid otorrhoea. Mastoiditis Perforation of the drum. Great sensitiveness of the ear to touch. Every little wound suppurates. Otalgia with sensitiveness to external contact out of proportion to the actual pain.
Mercurius – Worse at night with inflammation and ulceration. Otorrhoea thick, yellow discharge, foetid and bloody. Boils in external canal.
Pulsatilla – Chronic Otorrhoea. The meatus is red and swollen, with much pain. The secretions from all mucus membranes are thick, bland and yellowish green. Ache worse at night. Lobes of ear swollen. Easily moved to tears and laughter. Piteous weeping (reverse : Cham, which screams).
Silicea – Suppurative ear troubles accompanied by caries in the masoid cells. Stoppage of ears which open at times with a loud report. Much perspiration about the head, a characteristic in children. The head is wet from sweating, particularly at night.
