Cocculus ind. – Spinal weakness: Paralytic pain in the lumber region, i.e. small of the back. Worse by walking. Weak neck; cannot hold up head.
Conium – Cannot turn over in bed without being dizzy. Useful when backache is due to bruises and shocks in the spine.
Ferrum met – Lumbago all night; goes off when rising.
Hypericum – Consequences of spinal concussion. Coccyx painful, pain radiates up the spine and down the limbs. Painfully sensitive spine. Pain in hips, small of back and coccyx after labour. Kali carb. Backache while walking; feels as if must give up and lie down, as a result of anaemia and after confinement. Sharp pain in the hack at 3 a.m. compelling one to get up and walk about.
Natrum mur. – Painful stiffness of neck. Bruised backache better lying on back, or on something hard. Can stoop readily, but it hurts to straighten. (Buttocks emaciated in infants).
Rhus tox. – Stiff neck with painful tension when moving. Inter-scapular pain worse from swallowing. Backache better from hard pressure, walking about or bendyig backwards. Lumbago, coccyx pains into thighs. Pain better by continued motion. Caused by wet damp weather or sudden cold.
Nux vomica – Much pain in the small of the back made worse by turning in bed. Must sit up to turn in bed.
Sulphur- Lumbar pains, walks bent from pain in the back; he can only straighten up after moving. Supports weight on limbs when rising. Coccyx pains during stools. Curvature of spine.
