Natural Cure: Philosophical Background of Rod Therapy

Like electric wiring in a house, the nerves are spread throughout the human body. Their main switch is the brain that controls the nerves. All our senses, those of hearing, seeing, smelling tasting and feeling are fed by these nerves, which serve as the channel of information to the brain and communication of command from it to the body’s organs.

For example, when the food reaches the stomach, the nerves inform the brain that alerts the digestive glands through the nerves to release secretions to the stomach for assimilation of the food.

Similarly, when there is shortage of water in the body, the nerves convey the message to the brain that restricts the function of the kidneys and pores of the skin, causing a feeling of thirst, to quench which water is then taken.

The nerves then send the information to the brain and the brain releases the restriction on the kidneys and the normal function of the body is resumed and the thirst quenched. Thus goes on the intercommunication process between the brain and the body organs, through the intermediary channel of the nerves.

Now the brain can function and exercise its control only as long as the nerves are healthy, and loses its control when the nerves are deteriorated. The deterioration of nerves is caused by deposit of catarrh or mucus on them.

That is the stage of disease in the body. Thus we see that nerves are the GOVERNOR of the human body. To cure a person from his disease, necessary treatment is given to remove the cause, that is, to make the nerves free from the accumulated mucus on them, and thus bring the deteriorated nerves back to their normal function of the communication channel between the organs and the brain.

The treatment of making the nerves in the muscles free from mucus is different in different therapies. The medical science does it by injecting chemicals in the body organs, which often cause side or toxic effects, the further treatment of which forms a vicious circle of actions and reactions, the disease getting prolonged or curbed to reappear in more violent form at a later period.

Contrary to the medical treatment with medicine or surgery Nature-cure uses no medicine, but treats the system completely by its own methods of fast, baths and diets. Quite likewise, Osteopathy and Rod-therapy, too, use no medicine in their treatments, but manipulation.

In Osteopathy this manipulation is by hand (fingers) and in Rod-therapy it is instrumental, that is, done by the rod, both techniques massaging the affected part of the body in their own way causing no reaction or ill effects. The massage, whether with hand or rod, ultimately removes the mucus from the nerves and activates them.
