Natural Cure: Drinking One’s Own Urine in Urine Therapy

Drinking of one’s own urine (auto-urine) is the primary essential factor of Urine-therapy. While for a pack, or massage another person’s urine may be used, but for drinking, only one’s own urine be taken.

In case, when a person is not passing urine for some reason, or is unconscious, then urine of any nearest relative may be given to the patient for drinking, but a male’s urine to the male and female’s to the female.

There is no simpler, cheaper and surer remedy for men of all diseases of the body, (except structural defects of the body or diseases caused by traumatism), than one’s own urine.

One may hesitate to drink his urine in the beginning, for its social stigma, taste or smell, but he becomes used to it soon, and his hesitation does not trouble him any more.

The taste is said to be of the tongue and once the tongue is used to it, the distaste disappears. And then, be sure, urine generally has only the taste of slightly saline water, that is all, no bitterness.

Then, fresh urine does not smell pungent, it is only when it is old and contaminated. That is why the best urine is, when taken after a sound sleep. One’s fatigue, or worry concentrates the urine, or brings relevant bitterness in it, otherwise one’s own urine is just saline water.

But, for a sick person, he has to take his own urine, of whatever taste, even if containing blood or pus, for it is that factor, or those very elements, which will cure him of his diseases.

That is, a diseased person must take his diseased urine, not filter it in any case. The very poison if any in urine, will kill the body’s poison, a concept of Homoeopathy that poison kills poison.

Then, there is another point, the use of mid-portion of the urine, or the midstream, or ‘madhya dhara’ as recommended in our old tantric texts, etc. The ancient ‘rishis’ (sages), presumed that the first flow of urine had too much ‘bile’ (pitta) and the last was simple water.

In one way, the first flow may not be desirable even, as it may be meant for washing out any harmful particle or germ staying in the urethra by its effect, to neutralise that. The Hatha Yoga Pradipika, too, states that the first flow is too strong.

But the Western practitioners of Auto-urine Therapy have no such consideration. For them every drop of urine may be taken, as is required in a complete fast, on urine.

In his book, ‘Water of Life’, Armstrong pleads that one should drink all his urine, and not discard any part of it. Armstrong, however, had unflinching faith in the Bible and hence his staunch view, in the same way as Hindus have fantastic faith in the water of the Ganges and the Catholics in the Water of Lourdes.

Though morning first urine, or urine after sleep any time is the best to be taken, yet urine can be taken at any time of the day, or of any quantity, but it should not be mixed with any food. However, opinions differ.

Acharya Jagdish B., who at one time, been bringing out a magazine on urine therapy, used to give prescriptions, including some from Shri Morarji Desai, who preferred the use of fruit, or dry fruit along with one’s own urine, for drinking, in order to increase the potency of the urine taken.

We have already mentioned that the cow’s urine is sacred to the Hindus, but it is taken even otherwise by others also as a treatment of T.B. In old days when there was no treatment for it, the cow’s urine used to be collected by people of all faith to be taken orally to cure themselves or their relatives.
