Natural Cure: Indian Prime Minister Practiced Urine Therapy

In the days, when Shri Morarji Desai was the Prime Minister of India, Urine-therapy received a great boost at the hands of the country’s practitioners and the print media.

When the Prime Minister of a country openly admits to the press of his experience with Urine-therapy, the people do not feel any further hesitation in giving out to the public and press the version of their own individual experiences. And so it happened.

The long life of 99 years that Morarji enjoyed is a testimonial to the vital value of auto-urine.

After the plane accident which cost the lives of all the flying squad, Morarji came out of it and walked two kilometers on foot and when served food by the villagers, he simply said that he was not taking any food.

When on the invitation of the British government he was to go to England, he refused to have vaccination, which was essential under the British law to check infection from immigrants.

The British government had to yield to the stand of our Prime Minister and waive the necessary clause of the law in his case to materialise Shri Morarji’s visit to England.

During that period, many newspapers, even like the Times of India, the Blitz and the Illustrated Weekly of India published interviews, extracts or letters revealing the findings of certain individuals and sections of society.

The Blitz took its readers to surprise by flashing a front-line banner headline of a five-column interview by Dr. Damodar V. Nene with Dr. K.C. Kuruvilla, Head of the Department of Nephrology at the Jaslok Hospital, which had treated Jai Prakash Narain earlier. Dr. Kuruvilla described his wonderful findings on positive qualities of urine for health.

Again, in 1978, an International Seminar on Amaroli (a Yoga name for urine-practice) was held under the IYFM Research Coordinating Center of the Bihar School of Yoga, at Monghyr at which specialists in medical science from various countries read out their papers on Amaroli, which was followed by an International Yoga Conference in 1979 at Dhanbad.

I even reported on this conference as a correspondent of the P.T.I, and the Daily Searchlight of Patna.

Coincidentally, as I was going to cover it, I got a lift in the car, which was taking the Bihar Assembly Speaker to Dhanbad to inaugurate the* conference. The Bihar Health Minister, Shri Shankar Dayal Singh was accompanying him.

During the drive a discussion started on Urine-therapy. Shri Singh, the Health Minister told me that his wife was suffering from diabetes and then requested me to pay a visit to his house in Katrasgarh and advise his wife and convince her of the urine-treatment.

Such was the boost given to the practice of Urine-therapy in the regime of prime-ministership of Shri Morarji Desai. Even Urdu papers in Patna (19 Urdu papers are published from there) came out with stories on this subject.

One of the papers revealed how people in the Arab desert drank the camel’s urine in their journey through the desert and how the Prophet Mohammed advised sick persons the use of honey for almost every cure.
